When is the right time for Pool RePlastering?

Pool Re-Plastering

Many people have the same question, “When is the right time for pool replastering?”  It is very important to keep an eye on the surface. Pits in the plaster is the perfect place for algae to start to grow. When you can no longer keep control of the algae that has grown into the pits of the plaster, it is time for a pool re-plastering job. Also, if you notice the gray gunite shell showing through the thin plaster, the surface is rough to walk on, snags bathing suits, pool cleaner parts seem to wear down in a short amount of time or the pool plaster has blue-green stains from high amounts of metals in the water, pool plastering is necessary.

Proper water chemistry is important to the long life of plaster. Brushing and cleaning the pool surface is also key. Pools not brushed or vacuumed for long periods of time will grow algae and once it has started it can be very hard to get rid of.
